This past February, Marshland Credit Union began their fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in both Glynn and McIntosh Counties. In addition to having a “Wear Jeans for $5 Day” each Friday, each department in the credit union had their own separate fundraiser. These fundraisers included Member Service and Collection departments’ Valentine’s Day Flower, Balloon and Bake Sale, the Tellers’ Paper Hats and Boots Sale, the Loan department’s St. Patrick’s Day Hot Dog Sale and the Accounting, Human Resource and IT departments’ Yard Sale. More than $5,000 was raised for the Glynn County Relay for Life and more than $1,500 was raised for the McIntosh County Relay for Life.

Glynn County has one of the largest Relay for Life events in the country for a city of Brunswick’s size. This year’s Relay was held at the Brunswick Fairgrounds on the evening of April 20. The Marshland booth featured a beanbag toss and sold glow in the dark necklaces and mini flashlights. The McIntosh County Relay for Life, held on the night of May 4th at the Outlet Mall in Darien, was smaller by comparison but was still an inspirational and fun night for everyone who participated. Marshland’s Mystery Grab Box was the hit of the evening.

Marshland would like to thank all the members who contribut-ed and especailly all the em-ployees at who worked so hard to make it all happen. Glynn County Team Captain Nanci Smith said, “None of this would have been possible without the effort and teamwork of Marshland’s employees.”
